About me

I am a Catalan scientist from Barcelona, Spain. I earned my PhD at the University of Barcelona and after three deserved months of vacation at the beautiful island of Menorca, I flew to US for my postdoctoral training.

I chose San Diego, in California, because it is sunny¬†:) and because I thought it would be easy to find a job for both my husband and I. And I don’t regret it! San Diego is a really wonderful place to live. Nice people, very sunny, lots of nice places to travel around,… it almost makes me forget my beloved Barcelona!

But besides the fun, I am working hard too. I first worked in a lab at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and right now I am working at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. The Salk is an amazing building by architect Louis Kahn overlooking the Pacific ocean full of outstanding researchers known worldwide. For me, it is really an honor to work here.

Also, thanks to my husband, I like websites and blogs, and one day that I was in the lab looking for some protocol on the internet I had this idea. I would write a blog about my experiences in science, the protocols I use and everything that interests me, so I can share it with all the scientists in the world (or at least the ones that visit my blog).

Nice to meet you all!

Laia.
